Learning is FUN
Summer is almost here. Have you signed up for SFMS classes at William Holland or Wild Acres yet? If not, you can access the SFMS web site from the link on our home page or call me at 863-644-6665 for more information. You can also take classes at William Holland other weeks from April -November. For more information click here William Holland Web Site
Next Meeting - May 8, 2008 - 7pm
Come check out our new meeting room! You spoke and we listened. I know it's been hard for people in the northern section of our large county to make the meetings in Bartow. I've been trying to find an acceptable (as in free) meeting place that was centrally located and I think I've done it.
The nice folks at the City of Auburndale Parks and Rec have graciously agreed to sponsor our club. This means we have a new home for our monthly meetings and will be able to use the City's facilities for our annual show.
We will bring the dremel with drill stand, the glass grinder with channel bit and a large sheet of plate glass to this month's meeting. Bring your slabs and cabs for a hand's on experience. Jim will show how to polish flat slabs using window glass. You can try the new diamond bits to drill holes in your pieces or, if they're thick enough, cut a channel around them.
Hope to see you there.
Club Displays
You still have a couple of days to catch the clubs display at the Bartow Library. It's there through April.
We will set up at the Polk County Historical Museum, at the Courthouse in Bartow, during June and July. Club members set up displays there a couple of years ago and received great feed back. If you can contribute items, please contact Jan Liles or Cindy Reed.

Our Yahoo Group
We have set up a Yahoo group to make it easier for club members to communicate with each other. You can add items to the calender, upload files or pictures and send group emails. If you did not receive your invitations to join, please let me know. You can also go to the group and send a request from thesite.

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE FOLLOWING
Thanks to Gretchen Neal for all her help with club activities. Gretchen has made the decision to move to Arkansas permanently. We will miss her wit and knowledge, but hope she will visit us again. Thanks Gretchen and Good Luck!
